JitterJitter is uncertainty in the timing of a signal edge. The signal being measured by the oscilloscope may have jitter of its own, caused by unstable frequency, amplitude or pulse width. This is added to the oscilloscope’s intrinsic jitter caused by imperfections in its triggering and timing circuits. PicoScope 9000 Series scopes can display a histogram of edge timings, allowing accurate measurement of jitter.
